About Kids Being Kids Portraits, LLC
Amy Johnson has been an avid photographer since she earned enough money for her first 35mm SLR camera
in 8th grade. But it
wasn't until the birth of her own children when children's portrait photography became her passion. She finds true joy in
capturing children being themselves, whether they are exuberant and rambunctious or quiet and introspective. Although she
has taken classes in
natural and studio lighting, much of her technique is self-taught.
Amy currently has displays in the front lobby of the renovated Wulf Recreation Center (formerly called the Evergreen
Recreation Center) and in the lower level of the Buchanan Recreation Center in Evergreen, Colorado. Her work was
featured on the August 2006 cover of Mountain Connection newspaper and
on the August 2007 cover of the Evergreen Recreation District schedule.

Session Fee
$125 for a studio or for an on-location session in the Evergreen/Conifer area.
$150 for a combo session (1/2 outside and 1/2 studio)
$200 for on-location in the Denver metro area
This includes the session and an online gallery of 20-30 images from your session.
It also includes a Free 5x7 if you place your order within a week. Session fees are nonrefundable and are due
within one week after reserving your session in order to hold your time slot.

Guarantee
Kids will be kids. So if your child has the grumpys and the photos just aren't working out then we'll reschedule the session with no extra costs - at all. That's just life with the little ones and no one knows that better than me.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a combo session?
I am fortunate to have my studio located very close to a beautiful open space park with forests, meadows and a large pond. My combo session starts with a session in the park and then we head into the studio. This is by far my most popular type of session.
How long are your sessions?
My sessions are usually an hour long although they can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Combo sessions tend to run about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. The child usually dictates the length of the session. I do like to spend some time at the beginning of the session getting to know your child and helping him to feel comfortable.
Where are you located?
I'm in Evergreen, Colorado (near Conifer) which is located in the foothills of the Rockies above Denver.
Where do you shoot your sessions?
We can hold your session in my studio, outdoors at a location of your choice, or inside at your house. I also offer combo sessions as described above.
What's your studio like?
Very informal! And friendly! And fun! I have music, a mattress just for jumping, puppets to entertain, and more. The goal here is to capture your kid being a kid.
Do you take digital or film portraits?
I do all my work in digital format. Digital format gives me the ability to be creative with photos such as my storyboards. I also have the ability to remove cuts, bruises, slobber and nose boogies because, as all mommys know, these things happen.
Can I have my portraits printed in color and black & white?
Yes. Your online gallery will present each image in color and black & white so you can decide in which format you prefer the image. Sepia is available upon request.
How do you do those action pictures?
The action pictures are definitely fun! We set up a dancing area for the dancers or a mattress for the jumpers, play some fun music and start shooting. Then I lift the images off of the best digital files and create a new image with the child in action!
Can I pick my backdrop?
Yes, for the studio sessions you can choose from a variety of backdrops. I use only full size studio backdrops so your child can move around and feel comfortable. This allows me to take full length shots as well as head shots. You will need to view our backdrop choices and decide in advance because each one requires a different lighting setup. After you choose a backdrop, I can give you advice on clothing that looks best with the backdrop. You can choose two backdrops for a studio session and one backdrop for a combo session.
How can I review the images from my session?
Within one week of your session, you can review all your images in the "Recent
Sessions" section of this website. Your pictures
will be viewable in detail and they will be password protected so only you can see the pictures. Feel free, however, to
e-mail your friends and family with the password if you want help picking the best images! Your online gallery will be up
for one month.
You can order your prints online using the built-in shopping cart. I accept checks or PayPal.
How long does it take to get the prints?
Please plan on 4 weeks to receive the prints, although it generally only takes 2-3 weeks. Canvases tend to take 3-5 weeks.
